I owe a debt of gratitude to several long-time breeders (120 plus years cumulatively) specifically Nora Knight (Vintage Morgans), Bryan Blatt (Westwind Morgans) and Col. Vintage Morgan Bloodlines:

As you look through the pedigrees of Vintage Rosita and Vintage Fairytale and her offspring, Eva's JP Morgan, you will notice a stallion named SPARFIELD.
SPARFIELD came from Morgan lines that were used extensively on large ranches in California in the early 1900's. The cowboys of those times depended on reliable horses to get their job done. Morgan horses were prized for this as they could go day after day in the rugged terrain of the California cattle country.

The traits of endurance and athletic ability shine through in the SPARFIELD lines. SPARFIELD himself was a successful cutting horse and a steady trail horse. The power and athletic ability of these lines makes them ideal candidates for ranch use, trail horses for challenging terrain, and even in dressage.

SIR DANES SIRE STORM (VINTAGE MIDNIGHT SON * SPARFIELD TRIXIANNE) was the result of crossing two SPARFIELD offspring. True to his lines, he was a powerful, athletic stallion. He completed several 100 mile endurance races on the West Coast exhibiting the same toughness and drive that made these Morgans a popular choice for California cowboys.

WESTWIND STORM (SIR DANES SIRE STORM X WESTWIND BLACKBETTY) combines the power and quickness of the SPARFIELD lines with the Midwest ranching lines from Warner Angus Ranch and cutting horses such as CLASSY'S PRIDE and CLASSY BOY.

Westwind Morgan Bloodlines:

As you look through the Pedigrees of WESTWIND KATE and WESTWIND ROBIN, you will notice a stallion named SWEETS BAYBERRY. SWEETS BAYBARRY is the grandson of a stallion named RHYTHMS BIMBO who was a son of ARCHIE O. The Rhythm's prefix was owned by Charlie O'Neil who owned and bred ARCHIE O. Charlie O'Neil stood ARCHIE O and ARCHIE O is responsible for the exquisite type of his offspring. SWEETS BAYBERRY has sired 50 plus foals with direct sire lines to ARCHIE O tracing back on the sire line to JUSTIN MORGAN. ARCHIE O also comes down through WAR JUSTIN as well. These old foundation lines with direct lines to JUSTIN MORGAN are few and far between. Bryan Blatt, with Westwind Morgans, also stood WAR JUSTIN, son of WESTERN MANSFIELD. Bryan Blatt visited Ralph Ulery, in the late 80's who owned WESTERN MANSFIELD. Ruby Warner, of the Warner Angus Ranch bought WESTERN MANSFIELD from Ralph Ulery. WESTERN MANFIELD is the sire of WAR JUSTIN, with a direct sire line through ULYSSES, WESTWIND STORM, who has direct sire line through SPARFIELD and WESTWIND UNTOUCHABLE, with a direct sire line through RED CORREL, all to JUSTIN MORGAN. With a debt of gratitude to Nora Knight and Bryan Blatt, here at Latitude of Gratitude Farm we have EVA'S JP MORGAN, a son of WESTWIND STORM and whose dam has direct lines as mentioned above to SPARFIELD, and WESTWIND UNTOUCHABLE, with a direct sire line through RED CORREL to JUSTIN MORGAN. Both EVA'S JP MORGAN and WESTWIND UNTOUCHABLE are available for live cover. Also standing at Latitude of Gratitude Farm is WAR JUSTINS LEGACY and WESTWIND ETHAN grandsons of WESTERN MANSFIELD. WAR JUSTINS LEGACY is also available frozen.

Gab Creek Morgan Bloodlines:

If you look at VAQUERO MARI ANA you will see her sire, a stallion called GAB CREEK GOLDEN VAQUERO, GAB CREEK GOLDEN VAQUERO is a linebred cross of Dick Nelsen's Primavera lines of GAY VAQUERO and VALDEZ with Ab Cross' H-KEN. H-KEN was all cow horse, born in Dubois, Wyoming on the Cross Ranch. GAB CREEK GOLDEN VAQUERO is the son of PRIMAVERA BRIO crossed with Polly Smith's LBF GAY ENCHANTMENT. There are very few horses with this much of Dick and Phyllis Nelsen's Primavera lines. Click on link below to see a list of the 32 horses on the right side of VAQUERO'S five generation pedigree, and the number of generations they trace to JUSTIN MORGAN and principle sires the line passes through. Remarkably, 21 out of 32 of these sirelines pass through the US Government foundation stallion GENERAL GATES. This information is shared by permission from Col. John Hutcheson who gives credit to Brenda Tippin, Morgan horse historian extraordinaire, for the research.
